REVEREND PORTIA A. CAVITT 
The Reverend Portia Annette Cavitt is a Little Rock, Arkansas native but raised in St. Louis, Missouri. She is the oldest of four children, the aunt of four nieces, and the godmother of five goddaughters.
 
Rev. Cavitt is a graduate of Berkeley Senior High School, Wilberforce University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies, and the Interdenominational Theological Center (Turner Theological Seminary) with a Master of Divinity degree in Pastoral Care and Counseling.
 
After graduating from Seminary, Rev. Cavitt pastored two churches in Missouri (at the same time). Quinn Chapel-Jefferson City and Oakley Chapel-Tebbetts, Missouri. Only after two years, she was moved to San Francisco and pastored Wright Chapel in the Oceanview area. Under Rev. Cavitt's leadership of five years, the church was completely renovated with the laying of a cornerstone.
 
In 1997, Rev. Cavitt was sent to pastor Walker Chapel A.M.E. Church in Seattle, Washington. The congregation grew and she was the first female to successfully host the 107th Session of the Puget Sound Annual Conference as well as in the Fifth Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She also served as the President of the Methodist Fellowship.
 
From there, Rev. Cavitt served with distinction as the pastor of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Hutchinson, Kansas; where she sought to serve her congregation and the community faithfully. Rev. Cavitt was a foster mother, a Substitute Teacher for USD 308, a Red Cross volunteer and disaster trainee, and a Volunteer Chaplain. Rev. Cavitt is a strong advocate for children, education, justice, and community involvement. She was also a member of the 2001 Leadership Hutchinson (Kansas) Class.
 
While in St. Louis, Rev. Cavitt was the pastor of Gregg Chapel A.M.E. Church, a member of the St. Louis Clergy Coalition, a cabinet member of Interfaith Partnership/Faith Beyond Walls, the secretary of CACI - an arm of Metropolitan Congregations United (MCU), and a Big Sister volunteer. In November 2004, Pastor Cavitt was assigned to Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church in South Omaha. She has volunteered with the Nebraska AIDS Project, the American Heart Association, and was the 2007 Ethnic Volunteer recipient of the United Way of the Midlands. Rev. Cavitt is a recent graduate of Heartland Blueprint Class XIV.
 
Presently, she is the proud pastor of Clair Memorial United Methodist Church in North Omaha since July 1, 2008. Rev. Cavitt participates with the IMA, Alliance of Clergy Women, Methodist Fellowship, and the Mayor’s Clergy Advisory Board. She is a youth mentor and supervises juveniles for community service, a certified HIV/AIDS instructor with the American Red Cross, a member of the HIV/AIDS Community Planning Group, and works with various committees and community organizations within the city.
 
Rev. Cavitt pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and is currently a member of the National Association of the Advancement of Colored People, the National Council of Negro Women, and the Urban League. She was featured in the 1990 and 1992 issue of Ebony Magazine as one of the "50 Leaders of the Future".
